Continuous Monitoring of Ground-Gas

Introduction
This podcast will present an overview of the incorporation of continuous monitoring into current best practice for ground-gas monitoring.

Background
It has recently become possible to monitor ground-gas at much higher temporal resolution.  There is an immediate requirement to determine how this can be incorporated in current monitoring and ultimately to define new best practice.

1. Summary of present knowledge of ground-gas behaviour and description of current best practice in monitoring

2. General applicability of continuous monitoring

  • detection of worst case.
  • prediction of worst case.
  • characterising gas fluxes.

3. Case studies and their interpretation

  • Within pre-1960’s waste
  • Within post 1960’s waste
  • Outside a gassing source within a migration pathway
  • Within a sub-floor void of a residential house

4. Technical detail of instrumentation and its use
