The Government Digital Service (GDS) is currently openly consulting on the initial tranche of regulations which relate to the National Underground Asset Register (NUAR). NUAR is designed to provide instant, secure access to information about apparatus in the street, to improve the safety of operatives working in the vicinity of these apparatus and to improve the efficiency of street works across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. The regulations will implement a new minimum information specification to ensure comprehensive baseline information. This consultation is keen to understand the potential impact of the proposed NUAR regulations on the wider street works sectors including construction, environmental agencies, planners and asset management.
